Electrical Power

The major changes in electrical power provision, which followed the breaking of the state monopoly in the field, together with the emergence of private power providers, led to a careful regulation of this field of strategic importance for the national economy.

The fact that, since July 1st, 2005, each company may choose a new power provider on the competitive market didn't automatically generate a massive migration; one of the explanations is the eligible consumer's reluctance, based on lack of knowledge regarding regulations on changing providers.

In fact, it is the very precision of the regulations, as well as the state surveillance of involved providers (by means of a state institution established for this purpose), that minimized risks until effectively eliminating them; at this time, electrical power market is in perfect harmony with the European market, in both its mechanisms and surveillance instruments employed.
